August Book Club

Anna Karenina by Tolstoy
August 22nd 2010
Lake Cafe & Bar
235 Varsity Parade
Varsity Lakes, QLD

We have decided to have the next meetup on Sunday again so we can enjoy the lovely weather while talking about books. We will go back to Wednesday nights ( probably), we are just taking it month by month at the moment.

August's book selection is - Anna Karenina by Tolstoy.
Russian critics dismissed the novel on its publication as a "trifling romance of high life". Fyodor Dostoevsky declared it to be "flawless as a work of art". John Armstrong, An Associate Professor at Melbourne Business School lists reading old novels from authors like Tolstoy as one of his three tips to happiness. (his other tips were; 2. have more dinner parties, the inexpensive kind. Eat, drink and sit around and have good conversation. 3. Ponder and observe nature like studying a tree or the beach.) So you can read Tolstoy, come to the book club eat and have good conversation and look at nature and, man, your happiness will skyrocket.

For September's book club suggestion - the topic will be humour or new age (or any other book you want).
